More hand made beads

I've found that this technique has me hooked.

I have spent most of the day making beads; for what I have no idea, but I am loving them. They are too gorgeous. Each one is unique.

I have used the same elements in the beads that are in this post in different quantities and differing orders of application and the results vary greatly but I am certain that like me you think each one is indeed gorgeous in its own right.

The beads are surprisingly light which is going to make them great for paper projects. I think I am just in love. I wish I could take a picture that is clear engough for you to see what I see. YUMMY

I have ordered more UTEE so my obsession can continue.

More magic beads. I think I am hooked.

I am loving paper beads. I have been playing again and I have affixed a paper bead and a seed bead to a piece of wire through the bottom of the dolls head. I am liking the way it looks.

Paper beads

Now obviously I love all things papercrafty. I remember making paper beads years ago from magazine paper. They were fab or so I thought until I played with my current stash. I have found that paper beads made and coated with layers of UTEE and mica powders produce excellent results.

Do click on the image for a closer look.

I am working on these beads to further embellish my fimo heads which are to become charms. This way I get to colour coordinate to my doll face design. I am loving it.
I've been tagged. Cheers Louise :)

7 random things about me

I only found out that Yorkshire puddings were gorgeous last year. What a discovery. I'd never eaten them becauas they looked so crazy, but I should know never to judge a book by its cover or in this instance a food by its look or indeed smell. I love them. Yummy.

I get no period pain ever.

I hate dentists and all things related. YUK. Despite this every one says I have really lovely teeth.

I have never seen the movie 'Whatever happened to Baby Jane?'

I went to meet someone who I met on the interenet yesterday. I'd taken part in a swap on UKS that she was also involved in and she realised that we lived quite close by and asked if I wanted to meet up with her. I am so glad I did she is lovely. We were safe and met in Starbucks (just incase) Well you never can tell, but what I learned from this was taking calculated risks is part of life and can sometimes lead to good things.

I love ZZ top's 'Lowrider'

I met my current partner when I was 12 and we got together when I was 25. We always liked each other, but steered clear when we were younger. I hadn't seen him for years, he and my brother were really close and then one day when I was going to visit a friend, he rode past me on a push bike. He was lean, strong looking and very smiley. I invited him to my party and we've been together ever since. Life aye!

Think that's seven. Okay off to see who I can tag.

The rules are simple. Find 7 people to tag. You must redirect them to your blog so that they can read the rules via a comment telling them that they have been tagged. Now is this just a spur to get people to read your blog? YUP, but is it fun: YEAH :) So don't be shy.

First Charm :)

I have been playing with FIMO. The clay I have had for ages, but the mould (Doll Faces) arrived today. I am loving them. I've used various colours from my mica powder stash to colour the faces. I intend to use some of the faces to make charms for a charm swap that I hope to be hosting in the near future.

St George's Day

I used to have mixed feelings about this day. In my opinion it was highjacked by facists and therefore it represented everything I hate, but my views have changed. I think decent upstanding people should own this day. I think it should be a national holiday. anyway enough on that.

I got lots of new sachets today for making more stamps with my image pac. I spent a lot of time earlier on printing acetates. Some of them were a waste of time others not so. I am now prepared for stamp making tomorrow. I cannot wait. will upload my makes when they are done. I love my imagepac. It gives me the freedom to have new stamps pretty much when I want for a fraction of the price. Technology can be a wonderful thing.

Yesterday I made and decorated an emeryboard folder.

Today I've made a couple of ATCs which I am going to trade on UKS.

Both ATCs are based on the nursery rhyme 'Sing a song of sixpence'.

Flower

This is deco page inspired by the word flower. I found a link to this image on a blog I visit. Can't remember which one. That is my effort to give credit where it is due. Love this picture it is fab. Hope the recipient loves her page.

I've started making the mini accordian folding book inspired by this weeks show on crafttvweekly.com. I've used Pheobe papers by Basic Grey. As you can see nothing is in it yet and I have tweaked the design slightly. I am pleased with it so far. Think I will fill it with images of my favourite stamps. Will add more pictures when the project is completed.

Oriental Altered postcards.

Well I finally finished them. I love them. They are quite minimalist. I think this suits the genre. Hope you like them too. Feel free to leave a comment.

Busy, busy, busy...

Somedays can be described as no days. In truth I have done lots today, but I don't feel like I have. Strange but true.

I have made some stamps using my imagepac. I did make some yesterday too. I now have new stamps to play with and I have been playing. I did some work on the oriental postcards for a swap on uks last night too, but I did not finish them. I also worked on the flower themed deco page. I've used my new stamps on both projects.

I am liking what I am doing but I am having trouble finishing. Perhaps my mojo is giving up? I do hope not with the CC this weekend.

I found this fantastic bag today in a pound shop. I think it needs charms. I will have to play. The bag is retro madness, I love it. What a bargain. Just £1.00.

I am so insanely in love with the silly thing that I have taken photos for scrapping. They are printed and waiting for inspiration from the CC this weekend. I haven't scrapped in ages. I love it for its funky colourful design.

I also bought a clipboard intended for Bingoers. I like that word. Having never been to Bingo the item was bought strictly for altering purposes. It has been primed and given its first layer of white paint.

I have also fannied around with the ATC shrine design that I am in love with at the moment.

I have started, fiddled, dibbled and dabbled, but I have nothing complete to show for my efforts. I am beginning to tire of my seemingly endless need for new projects. I must complete what I start. I must complete what I start. X 100.

Okay a deep breath and back to the creation station.

Its a Charmed life!

I have been inspired by other people's blogs and swaps I've found whilst on the net. Charms could become my newest addiction. I have garnered the interest of my fellow alterers on UKS re a charm swap. I must say that the interest is encouraging. I have submitted a request to one of the mods on the forum and hope to link it to my blog if the approval is given.

In preparation I have:

dismantled unused objects and plan to play tonight. I hope to produce many fruits. I will upload pictures later.

purchased a solder iron and solder (I have incurred an injury too, but I will live)

sketched.

I hope my preparation pays off.

What a difference...

some light makes.

The colours are so different in this lot of images. Obviously they look different again in real life.

When the weather is good...

we usually want to spend more time outside. However I have tried playing with my 'toys' outside and it is just not fun. Someone like me likes to take advantage of the natural light and the fresh air so I lift my blinds and open my windows. That way I can enjoy the best of both worlds.

At the moment I am working on a deco page which has the theme flowers. I found some great quotes surfing the net. I had never made a deco page until last month when I signed up for a swap. Initially I did not know what I was doing and that was a massive stumbling block. Now I know that I don't know what I am meant to be doing and I find that quite liberating. I am not trying to copy a style or recipe so I am going with the flow and I hope that the recipient will love it too.

Will upload images later.

As you can see I did not finish my deco page, but I have completed the ATCs for the Royal Flush swap on UKS. I was given 10 of Diamonds and the notion that we were not to stick to rigidly to the idea that we were using real cards as our inspiration. Diamonds do feature and the number, but they are a suit all unto themselves. Photos were taken at night. Will take some more in the daylight to compare. I am pleased. They are tame, but complete. Someone said something about all artists who aspire to achieve perfection all the time will achieve nothing. I agree with that. In my opinion these ATCs are not perfect, but they are complete.

Now that blogger is working again...

I can go back to what I do best.
I have made some funky things recently so here are some more pictures.

The ATCs were meant to be a surprise, but I don't mind spoiling it. I made 18 of them as near to the original as possible. They are small souvenir and thank you for those who are taking part in the altered doll swap that I am running on UKS.

So what do some of the dolls look like? The next image will give some indication.
If you don't see yours don't be annoyed, I could only frame what is visible.

I have been working on CJ's so here is a carefully framed shot of the one that I am working on now. I am not finished, but I have a clear idea of where I am going with it.

Welcome back.

Here's some of what I've been up to. Will upload more in a day or two.

Thursday, 12 April 2007

My blog was blocked as a spam blog whatever that means.

Anyway I have been really busy crafting recently. I have created a mini book and completed four CJ entries. I have also made 18 almost identical ATCs. I am just a little chuffed with myself. Will upload pictures for your viewing.

I have found that every year my way of crafting evolves. Initially I would have described myself as a card maker, then a scrapbooker and lately I do more altering than anything else. I am a mixed media artist. Well that is what I am going to call myself from now on. Sounds a bit posh. It might take some getting used to.
