9 weeks plus 1

Apparently that is how old the baby is. It is about 1.5cm in length. It has arms and legs that are just starting to grow. I did have scan photos. I will upload pictures tomorrow :)

Moving forward (an update on me)

This week has been hectic. Those of you who know me will know that I am in the early stages of pregnancy and that unlike my other pregnancies, this one is proving to be difficult. I am feeling devoid of energy and pretty damned yucky all the time. I am not really moaning because I am overjoyed. I go for my dating scan later today. Things might seem a bit more real then.

Things are truly moving for me and my family at this time. I am also moving house. I had a phone call yesterday stating the the move would take place next week Tuesday which would have given me a week to organize my life into boxes. I don't think so! Needless to say the date has been changed. We are now moving on the 22nd.

We now have time to decorate and make the place our own before we move in.

The new house is bigger. I am thrilled with its location and everything. I cannot wait to get in there. I must remember to take lost of piccies.

My first published layout :)

Sometimes self celebration is totally called for. This month's issue of Scrapbook Inspirations has my first ever published layout inside. I am so chuffed as I won a prize too; three great books.

The layout is here.

Thanks for looking.

Altered Pencil lines

This time I was influenced by Sketch 49

I really loved the geometric shapes on this layout. I loved the combination of sqaures and rectangles. It was very easy to translate this idea to my note book.

My journal began as a plain A5 inexpensive notebook.

I used a krylon marker to make the edges pop on the front of the book. I chose a metallic colour that would enhance my design.

I used Bockingford water colour paper to create the geometric shapes that form the background to my design. I cut each square piece 1" X 1" and for the rectangle shapes I cut 1" X 2".

After cutting the background papers to the correct size I took a large collage stamp and used it to create an overall image. I wanted the each piece of water colour paper to look like it had been cut from a larger sheet of paper with a large design. I used Black Stazon for this. I inked all over using pigment inks to inject each piece with colour and life. The pieces were then arranged and not glued until I was happy with the arrangement. I used wet glue for permanence.

I created a mat (2 1/2" x 4")using black card. I cut another piece of water colour paper which I smeared with ink in contrasting colours to those I had used for the backgound. I used mod podge and an image from a serviette that has been hanging around for ages to create the focus for this piece.

I used dimensional paint to create a flourish.

I embellished the design with a large bloom cut down to a manageable size.

The title is stamped using white brilliance ink.

Hope you like.

I thought these could be made for Christmas pressies. The whole thing cost very little and was very quick to make. It took about

Grab me a bucket

I think I am going to hurl.

Okay so this is not my first pregnancy. I have told enough horror stories to unsuspecting (victims) first time mum's to know that labour is going to be a nightmare, but that is just about 7 and a bit months away so I have got time to get used to the idea and I figure at least you get something for all the pain so it is not all bad.

I have two sons. I have had two pregnancies. I have never ever felt sick. what is is that about?

Okay so theory dictates that if this pregancy is dramatically different from those where boys were my presents, then this one could be a girl. That is a highpoint, but I am feeling icky all the time and that is so much of a low point I cannot tell you.

Feeling sick all the time has quenched my creativity. I cannot do anything except eat and feel sick. Eating stops the sickness feelings that and drinking too, so I am spending all the day eating and drinking not playing.

I am constantly thinking of something to munch or slurp and those of you who have been pregnant will KNOW food is not always a friend. The FAD food is your friend for a week or so and then your enemy. Then you find a new fad food. The cycle continues thus; food friend, food enemy! I am constantly searching for something new to tease those taste buds with.

AAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH Nausea.

So why haven't I been blogging? I cannot sit at the keyboard for long enough. I am only doing okay now because I am slurping Tropicana with orangey bits.

Coke is it.

This ATC has been made for the Think Monday, think ATC challenge blog.

The picture is copied from a postcard that is on my fridge. I thought it was perfect for the theme. For once I had just the thing. I used ink pads to blend the purple colour for the background and cut and pasted the main image. This is the quickest ATC I've made in ages.

Thanks for looking.

Feeling fabby

I've been holding back. I wasn't sure whether I should make the knowledge public or not, but I am overjoyed and about to burst.

I AM PREGANT!

I found out on Monday. I've been given May as the month of birth and the due date of the 13th. That will all change. The scan date is much more accurate.

I am ecstatic. I feel really privileged.

Minibooks

I finally got around to having a play with my bind it all. It is now a firm favourite. For these little delights I used coasters to make the front and back pages. The rest are bits and bobs I had lying around.

One of them is for Flo. She knows why another is for Jen. She knows why too.

Filey Find

I am lucky enough to have sensible inlaws who have retired to Filey. It is such a beautiful place. I really look forward to spending summers, breaks etc there with my family.

On the first day I found this plate in a second hand shop. It was late in the evening and the shop was closed. We were only staying for a few days so the schedule was very tight, but despite this I managed to get back to the shop the next morning and my gorgeous find was still there.

The plate cost £1. I cannot believe how cheap it was.

On the reverse it has an engraving Victoria's Jubilee. Though I am not a royalist I did gasp when I turned the plate over. I don't know anything about it, how old it is etc. It is just BEAUTIFUL. It jumped right out of the window to me and for that price it had to be mine. I think this plate will inspire me. I am hoping so. I love the texture the colours and the its history. Most of all it will always remind me of our first visit to John's parents in Filey.

Design Team? Me...

Yes please.

Yesterday I was invited to join Altered Pencil Lines Design Team. I am thrilled that Sarah suggested me and that my work is good enough. I am really excited about this so watch this space.

Whooopeee Doo for me.

More messing around with stampboard

Some creations made earlier today. Stampboard is my new bestest friend.

Just for Jen

Who I met and spoke with briefly yesterday. Hi there hun. You said you wanted to see pictures of me in Filey so here goes.

New stash (Manchester Central Fri 31st Sep)

Stash shopping at shows can become like a mad frenzy. You leave the house with a clear budget. 'And no I won't be spending more than X', I reassure myself as I enter the building and then I leave having spent double. The contents of my plastic bags, even when they are condensed into one bag do not look like they equal the financial commitment. But ask me if it was a positive experience. It was ace. Not only did I go with two great people, my dad and my best friend, I was inspired and what I bought should keep me going until... well at least next week.

WARNING
When shopping at a show remember there will always be a shopping disaster. So what was mine? I bought to die cut alphabets and got home to find my die cutting machine has given up the ghost (died). Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I feel the need to spend more money already. Anyone know where I can get a Wizard really cheap?

Friday 31 August 2007

Wednesday stamper.

BLUE

My first adventure with stampboard. I've used various inkpads to create the background colour inlcuding blue and silver. I've stamped one wing using a stamp I made using my imagepac. It reminds me of the nightime, but that seems odd as butterflies don't come out at night. Anyway who said art needs to make sense. It just needs to look the part as far as I can see.

A picture by day makes all the difference.

Filey

We had a very short break in Filey. John's parents moved there six months ago. I was not looking forward to going, but had a fab time and took some great photos.

We crammed lots into our stay. On Tuesday evening (the day we arrived we went down to the beach at Filey. They have this water feature with all the name from sea charts ( the one from the shipping forecast). Anyone who knows me knows I love the shipping forecast. I don't know what it means, I just love the strange sounding words and the rhythm when it is being read. The names formed a compass which is a water feature there.

On Wednesday we went to Scarborough. We did the market and a couple of craft shops. One was better than the other. I only spent a tenner so that should say something.

We went on a boat ride aboard the Queensferry. What choppy madness that was. I was terrified but so was everyone else.

John and Marcus went crabbing on the pier. That was hilarious. My John is a carp fisherman. He was being very competitive. Between them they only managed two crabs. A man and his lads further along the pier managed low sixties. Laugh, I nearly wet myself.

We left Scarborough after Fish and chips in a little cafe (licks her lips they were yum)

Monday 27 August 2007

What is stiff sticking?

Stiff sticking is a verb. It is the name for the action of changing labels/stickers on items in shops and paying a cheaper (unrealistic) price. This came up in a conversation that I had with my best bud.

Has anyone heard of this practice or do you have another name for this?
I would love to know.

Saturday 25 August 2007

Finished

My tags are fininshed. :) I now have one more set to make.

Wednesday 22 August 2007

Unfinished

But I am getting there. These are my Angel tags. Well the start of them. I have been making transfers using the sticky tape method. I have very wide tape which helps. I now think I need some sticky backed plastic. This could become addictive.

I love my computer

It is not often, but when I get the chance I really like to get into my computer. When I say into I really do mean climbing in an having a good old feel around the software that I own. This time I have been playing with CS3.

I am rubbish at image manipulation. It takes forever and seldom works out . My intentions outweigh my abilities. Not true this time though.

I found this Victorian image of an African American little girl. She is so cute and I felt that she needed to be an angel so I made her into one. I love her.

What magic will I be creating with her. I don't know but it will be beautifully magical and seen here when inspiration strikes.

My images are ready.

Deco page.

I am loving pierrot/clowns and all things circus this week. With that in mind I've made this:

DS 1 first day at work

Of course we had to have a row. What is that boy like. He has no bank account or details. I distinctly remember telling him to open one. I think sometimes having a teenager takes all the fun out of parenting and I mean all of it. Well I am not going to let him spoil my day. I hope things go well for him, but boy has he upset me this morning.

Started my deco page for the swap and the theme was vintage and so I have gone for carnival/circus type theme. It is difficult finding images so the search is on. Stay tuned for images coming this way. Hopefully I will be in a better mood too.

Sunday 12 August 2007

for the love of inchies

Well in fairness the first time I made these I can honestly say they were very primitive. My style has developed and I now love them. They are totally addictive. I have just completed 30 for a swap on UKS and now I want to make some for myself. Will post more details on how I get on with this challenge as I progress.

My eldest is now employed

Yesterday my 16 year old was offered a job and he accepted. He had and interview with a telecommunications company last week. His interview was successful and he is now game fully employed. This is not a career move, but a stepping stone between now and college. I am so proud of him.

Sunday 5 August 2007

An update

I haven't blogged for a couple of days because I have been really busy with other things. Yesterday I went to the library with Marcus in the morning and we spent a couple of hours there. We had a great time. I did spend sometime on the computer when I got back but didn't have anything to blog about in the main so I didn't.

Friday was a great day. I went shopping. Now who does not love shopping. Not food shopping as I hate the mundane ritual of it but BED shopping. We are getting a new bed it will arrive on Friday. I have been after a new bed for ages. My man is 6 foot 2" and quite heavy. I am decidedly shorter, but heavy all the same. We have been sleeping on a shocking matress squeezed into a double bed with miserly dimensions 4 feet by 6. Anyway this will go on no longer as we have purchased a king sized bed. 5 feet by 6 feet 6 ". OH will have room to stretch his legs now. Whoopee. Now if that was not exciting enough the matress is sprung with a layer of memory foam. I am delighted. It really does mould to your body and you just feel so comfortable.

Now when a girl gets a new bed that is bigger than her old one she needs new bedding so off I went to TKMaxx to get the highest thread-count for my sheets that I could afford. I also bought a brand new quilt.

Did I mention that the frame is a sleigh bed. Oh I am so happy.

One bit of bad news; the baby fairies did not visit this month. Will have to try again next month.

Thursday brought more good news. We were offered a new house. I have declined but I am on the look out for empty properties near by. I have spotted one. We will see how this develops.

Of late I have become a bit of a social butterfly. I am off out this afternoon to one of my friend's houses. She is hosting a welcome home party for her 19 year old daughter who has just returned from gap year travel. I cannot wait to see her.

Happy Sunday everyone.

I did forget something. I was visited on Thursday evening by an evil creature. The mosquito. Now I have three bulging lumps on my forhead. YUK. No pictures of me this afternoon.

Waiting for the phone to ring.

The interview went well and DS1 was told that he should expect a phone call on Friday. Appparently he had a lot of qualities that the company requires. Here's hoping he gets taken on. By all accounts he did well and I am extremely proud of him.

Man in Black

OMG my eldest is at this very moment having his first official interview. He is dressed in a black suit and looks really handsome. I cannot believe how mature he looks. We have been warring for ages about him getting a job. I have been putting a lot of pressure on him so whether he gets this job or not I won't care as he is making the effort that I want him too. I can hear myself saying ' If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I wish him the best of luck, but he has made me proud by just trying.

Having a life

and recording it in print. Yesterday I attended one of my oldest friend's weddings. I really didn't want to go to begin with, but I found the courage to go. This wedding was going to be different as my friend (Gina) is a punk.

The style of everyone was amazing and I am so glad that I went. I plan to make her a mini book to celebrate her day (any scrapper would).

Here is an image.

One of the funniest things about yesterday was finding out that WEBBY had a real name; CARL. I laughed when he was reciting his vows (not audibly; I do know how to behave some of the time). It was an internal snigger as I had only known him as Webby for years.

That hair is just ace.

Libra Layout

Most recent layout. Can't really say more than that.

My first Binditall project.

I have had a fabulous idea. I won't share at this moment. Will tell you more when the project is complete. I now have lots of binding combs. Got them from Stamp Addicts and they were reasonably priced. Love this idea. Off to play.

Tuesday 24 July 2007

Another way to play

We all have surplus Phonebooks lying around. The paper used is the same texture as newspaper. I like to have text as the background to play around with. In a previous post I used the obit page which did feel slightly awkward about. I have discovered that the phonebook has similar paper and is full of text. Yummy. Off to play. Will be back later with images to share.

Pencil Lines Sketch #42

The sketch is here. I had a portrait photo to work with so I have maneuvered the sketch to fit my image. I have used sewing to immitate the scallop edging. You will need to get in really close to see that detail. Felt flowers are lush. I recently took part in a felt flower swap on UKS and so felt (no pun intended) that the blooms on the sketch should be from my already mountainous stock.

Bind it all

Well this is the tool of the moment. I really love mine. I should be showing you what I have made, but like a numpty I bought the largest rings and now need the smaller ones to play the way I want. So guess what? You guessed it, I've been shopping again and I've now bought all sizes. My smaller rings should be here by the end of the week. Should be up for a bit of show and tell by then.

Is anyone out there like me?
I expect not as I am truly unique (LOL). What I mean is, like me in the sense that you make purchases; having thought of lots of things to do which have inspired the purchase, only to feel a total lack of inspiration when the products are right there in front of you. It is a bit like writer's block and a right royal pain in the butt in my opinion.

Sometimes a bit of a distraction helps.

I love the Pencil Lines challenge for this week. I have printed off my photo. Let's hope I get it finished.

Look what the postie brought for me

Newest toy. Clapping hands excitedly. Cannot speak. Shrill screams. I am in love.

Lervina

And here she is. My newest playmate.

Sew Crazy

Got myself back to Lidl today and returned the useless comb binder. Don't get me wrong the price was NICE and there was nothing wrong with it. It wouldn't have enabled me to do what I need to do which is make mini books so my purchase did not fit the purpose. Not the manufacturers fault or Lidl's. Just mine. Ha ha ha. Sometimes when one door closes another opens. At Lidl today they have sewing machines. £39.99 and it does lots of different stitches. I am chuffed to bits with it. I have tested it. It does what it says on the tin which means I now have a multi-stitch sewing machine. Prepare to see me go SEW Crazy.

Saturday 21 July 2007

Creating decorative backgrounds

I've organised another swap on UKS. This one was inspired by something I saw on Artezine. I have been experimenting with backgrounds and this is what I came up with.

Got to make a deco page today. The theme is green. Be back later with images.

Friday 20 July 2007

You buy cheap, you buy twice.

Okay so I am remembering that saying and now I know this to bee true. I bought the machine yesterday and while I was pleased with it ititially after this morning's playtime I have realised its limitations. I have repackaged and it and it will be finding itself back to Lidl very shortly.

I have bought a BIND IT ALL. WHOOPEE. I got it here Postage only 2.95. The lovely lady in the shop said she will get it in the post for me today and hopefully it will be here tomorrow or Monday. Can't wait.

Discount shopping ROCKS!

I love those discount supermarkets, Aldi, Netto, and Lidl. Look what I picked up yesterday. Wow. Twenty pounds which makes it much cheaper than a bind it. My new JOY TOY came with paper, card and acetate and plastic combs. I will have a play and see what I can create later. YUMMMY!

Thursday 19 July 2007

I did not blog yesterday because I was too busy making. Will post piccies later. Just about to take DS 2 to school. Found a new place to roam. Thought I'd share http://www.cardsbyjulie.blogspot.com/

will be with me really soon. Till then I'll just have to stroke the screen.
