Another embroidered adventure

Anyone who visits Scrapsville often will know that I am a very fickle crafter.  I like to try most crafts at least once.  Some I visit more often.  At the moment I am caught between cold porcelain and and embroidering and the latter seems to have it.  I have a few friends who have recently increased the world's population and so I like to make gifts for them rather than buy.  It sometimes takes a while but I hope it is worth the wait.  Here is another embroidered wall hanging.

I like to personalize gifts and for those with unusual names it seems to have more value.  Anyway after that massive build up it better be good.  I like it, I hope it is well received.  Let me know what you think.  Your comments are much appreciated.

And I have totally decided that some things just don't photograph well!

Up with the larks.

There are a  few hours in the morning when the house is still.  I love this time of day.  My children and partner are still sleeping, the cat has been fed and has been let out.  I am alone with my thoughts.  I can organize what needs to be done today without interruption ( a rare thing believe me).  I did not sleep very well but that is to be expected.  I did however finish the piece of embroidery I started.  It looks like this:

Loss

My dear friend June passed peacefully yesterday, she had been battling cancer for around a year and finally fell into a deep sleep yesterday afternoon.  I am relieved for her, the suffering is over, but for her family and friends there is a now a void where she used to be.  I found it very difficult to deal with her illness, it came on so suddenly and before we knew it she was really ill.  I feel really sad for everyone she has left behind but my faith helps me to understand that she is suffering no more.  She is resting, without pain, worry or stress.  God will remember her just as all those who loved her.  I don't want to remember my friend as a victim of disease, she was a strong, creative, generous, fun, beautiful person a one of a kind.  I will always remember her with love and deep affection.

Busy days

Whoa horsey slow down.  The past few days in Scrapsville have been ultra busy.  I had a few friends who want help with sewing matters.  I found myself drafting patterns and the like.  Me!  I've yet to see if it works.

Saturday I was out with my aunt all day.  We did shopping for trimmings and I had a few great finds in Charity shops.  (US thrift stores)

Yesterday was my normal routine, worship, and then Mum came over and today I have had a school meeting the dentist and a visit from a friend for the majority of the afternoon.

Tomorrow, I don't care what arrangements have been made, I am having a slow one.

First a work in progress

Boo!

Last night I decided that I needed to break my addiction to CP at least for a day or so.  In Scrapsville we have a new inhabitant called 'Monkey Face'.  How cute is he?  Like most apes he is at home swinging in the trees.

Over night Kitty has gone and had a baby.   I woke up to find one had become two.

Kitty Keyring

I made this today.  Redwork embroidery has always had my heart, but I have never ever tried and now I have and look what I made.

I haven't really had much time recently to play with fabric.  CP has taken over my life so it was nice to do something different for a change.  I have a few more sketches I would like to turn into redworks (if that is something I can write, you get the gist :) )  Once the little one is in be I know there are more to come.

The good the bad and the colourful.

The sun is out despite the volcanic ash that is hovering above Scrapsville.  Today is bright and cheerful. Today I have had both good and bad news.

The good news came in a package from dearest Lolly and the bad news is that she is quite poorly.  I hope she gets better soon and she is in my thoughts and prayers.

This is what she sent me, which I totally love, I just wish she was not unwell. :(

I have an unhealthy obession with CP.  I have always got some and when I have not it is on my mind.  I am working on 'rainbow nation' which is looking like this

:
They need phones and faces and then they will be an impressive force.

I wonder how far my obsession will go.  Where will CP take me to?  For more adventures in CP keep  stick around Scrapsville.

The Toy Society

I have been aware of this project for the longest time, but until now I have not participated.  Something for nothing sounds good to me.  I hope my toy is found and has a happy new life.

renewed vigor

More Phone-edz (minus the phones as yet) have arrived in Scrapsville.  They are appearing in warmer tones at the moment.  Families of Red, Yellow and Orange are the latest inhabitants.  They are mingling well with the others.

I have been working on other CP designs with an oriental influence.  Sneaky peeks to follow.

Over the last few days or so I have been too busy to play.  Boo hoo!  I am hoping that after the weekend I will begin again with renewed vigor.  Here are some images.
 They seem to multiply!

This week as been busy.  Monday saw me at a medical and the funeral of a dear colleague.  I unfortunately missed the funeral because of my former engagement.

Tuesday we attended a dermatology appointment with Marcus.  He has vitiligo  but only mildly and has been given some cream which could reverse the effects.  We will know more in three months.  In the afternoon I attended a course with Marcus.  We used charcoal to produce portraits.  I like charcoal.  Today we attended the course and used pastels water colours.  I am enjoying being creative and I hope it will feed into what I am doing but mostly it is bliss working with Marcus this way.

For water I have used fantasy film

I am not sure  that this is what is used by professional diaorama artists, but it works for me.  Here we have some new inhabitants by the water.

I am working on new diaroma's for my new phone edz.  (Marcus is a great help with this kind of thing, it is a great way to play together.  He has such fabby ideas).

More phone edz fun resulted in this

a little lonely leopard.  She needs friends!

New inhabitants

My fingers have been busy in Scrapsville today.  Here are the results:

My eyes will be busy later seeing what Heston Blumenthal has been up to.  His new feast programme begins on CH4 tonight.  I cannot wait to see what the kitchen dude produces this time with inspirations from Willy Wonka it is sure to be well very interesting.

Thou shalt have a fishie

Little being the operative word.  This was the catch of the day for my young son on his fishing outing with his Dad this weekend.  They are taking advantage of this Bank Holiday and are off again today.  Dad didn't catch the other day, I think it is like having an itch you can't quite scratch.  I don't really pretend to know what he gets out of it, but them spending quality man time together is a great thing.  I hope they are successful today.

Back in our Scrapsville homestead, I am attempting to catch myself up on housework and I am getting nowhere fast sat here.  Oh well must dash.

Sunday, 4 April 2010

My Aunt visited today so I have had a girly day.  It was really nice for her to come over and we have spent great quality time together.

Last night I made these.

Where does the time go?

A week already?  Gulp!.  I cannot get my head round the fact that we have already enjoyed a week's break from the routine of school.  Roll on the summer vacation.  We have a week left and I intend to make the most of it.  Father and son have gone fishing in Scrapsville.  I am hoping my little man has a good time.  Dad has been promising to take him, not to watch but to participate,  forever.  Well today is the day.  They have gone to the grand opening of a small lake nearby.  I hope this will be the first of many trips.  Little man and me are home.  We have been having more cold porcelain adventures and I have a few sewing adventures to complete too.  Must dash there simply just isn't enough time.

Disappearing bread.

We are heading off for supplies.  It is Good Friday and in Scrapsville that means the shops are closing early and banks are closed full stop so me and the kids are heading out to the shops before the rush and all the bread disappears from  the shelves.  Yes bread really does disappear.
